Tom Cruise Films Are Consistently Successful

By Febri Jawal

Risky Business is one of the first Tom Cruise movies that everyone associates with him and his early career. Fans laughter rings out when he appears in the role of Joel Goodsen and dances and sings in his underwear. This film is one of the biggest hits from 1983.

In Top Gun Cruise played Lieutenant Pete, Maverick, Mitchel. He was a pilot and his in air antics were dizzying to see. He rose to new heights in theaters everywhere. He rose and fell and rolled in his pilot role in this memorable film. It was especially realistic throughout.

Perhaps his most poignant role was as Charlie Babbit in Rain Man, the hit that came out in 1988. The audience was transported through every possible emotion during his journey with his autistic brother, played by Dustin Hoffman. Together, they created a heart-wrenching relationship. Charlies transformation from jerk to loving brother was laudable.

Then he played a once-naive attorney in the 1993 thriller, The Firm. As Mitch McDeere he graduated from law school, was offered a luxury position with a top law firm and went from eager innocence to jaded shock at what the firm was actually all about. He took a grateful audience through all the highs and lows possible in one short-lived career.

The roles Cruise has played include both acting and producing. He was a producer of Without Limits in 1998 and Hitting it Hard in 2002. He was credited as executive producer of The Others in 2001 and Narc in 2002. It is obvious he has been a busy man both in front of the camera and behind the scenes.

This popular actor plays an Irish immigrant in Far and Away. He stars with Nicole Kidman, his real-life second wife, who plays the woman he loves. There is one scene many people disliked in which he punched a horse. Minority Report is a film with layers of twists and turns. This science fiction movie is based on three psychics who determine a murder and murderer before the crime is committed. Cruise has the role of a precop. He is PreCrime captain John Anderton.

In June of this year, 2012, the list of Tom Cruise movies grew longer when he starred in Rock of Ages. This hit, directed by Adam Shankman, was adapted from a Broadway musical bearing the same name. He absolutely rocked the screen as Stacee Jaxx, a dynamite rock singer. He performs a benefit to save his friend from losing the bar he owns. Included are a pack of famous actors and a panoply of sub plots woven throughout.
