Reasons For Using Rehearsal Strategies As A Memory Booster

By Kimberly Green

Teaching is indeed one of the oldest professions in the world. Different teachers have different approaches that they use in teaching. Even though they prefer to physically interact with their students in classrooms, some use technology to teach the same information. They include online platforms and live video conferences. No matter which method works for you, it is important to instill knowledge in students at the end of it all. In fact, most teachers prefer to use rehearsal strategies as their method for teaching.

Once you have introduced a new concept, it does not end there. You need to repeat it aloud so that they can hear you. You can draft a list or a diagram that will be easy to grasp. That way, you can also sub vocalize so that learners can repeat after you. It is highly unlikely for a student will forget something that they have already memorized. This approach is useful for individuals that want to master their social security or phone numbers.

Singing along while reading something is one great way of learning how to master it. This strategy has worked well for small kids who are being taught how to name animals. Each time they hear the song, they are inclined to remember what they have been taught in class. In other instances, the teacher can involve use of body language or gestures to facilitate better memory.

It is normal for you to master certain digits in a certain sequence. For instance, if a person asks for the last four letters in your password, you will be forced to remember it after reciting the first ones. If you are comfortable with that type of strategy, then you are in a better place. Also, if you like to work under quiet or noisy places, you need to inform your tutor.

As a student, it is normal for you to forget everything you have just been taught in a second. When this occurs, you need to practice on your mastering skills. This can only be achieved through continuous practice. Thereafter, you can conduct a review on everything you have learnt.

The difference between understating and remembering a certain concept is quite great. A technical subject requires you to be attentive and creative. This will give you an easy opportunity to interpret questions during exams. Your ability to understand will help you in solving very tricky questions.

Short term memory is inevitable in certain students. They need to use certain tricks to install information in their brains. It is important to take notes, highlight and underline the main points to help you in remembering all the details. Once you have done so, it is mandatory for you to summarize what you have understood.

As a tutor, it is your sole responsibility to ensure that all your students digest what you are teaching them. Each student has his/her own method of understanding the concepts. As long as they are going in the right direction and using these methodologies, then you can guide them into becoming better and learned people.
