Elvis Presley Books For A Great Read

Featuring the life of possibly one of the greatest talents of the 20th century, many Elvis Presley books document his life. Innumerable amounts have been written about this legend of Rock and Roll. Some were crafted by business associates, while still others flowed from the pens of friends and relatives.

A large number of these books have been unauthorized biographies and subject to question. Many of the publications since his untimely death in 1977 are not necessarily factual and merely the opinions of the author. It has been well reported in fact that many of these accounts of his career and personal life are fictitious.

Numerous authorized books have also been written over the course of the past 50 years. Many of these have been authored by those who were there at the start of his career in the 1950's and who remained with him until his last days. The Presley family have also in recent years released personal notes, letters and photographs that were previously unseen by the general public.

Other publications that may be of interest are those documenting Elvis's recording career. Some of these are very comprehensive, detailing dates of recording sessions, musicians involved and concert dates from the late 50's through to the Vegas years in the 70's. Many of these also contain quotes and in some cases interviews with band members and studio staff that were present at these sessions.

Following his very successful early accomplishments he decided he would enter the world of acting. Numerous films were made during a relatively short time and although not the finest of film actors many accounts, stories and photographs from these Hollywood days have been put into print. Some of his closest friends and fellow actors have over the years decided to share their memories and tales from these times.

After being drafted into the army and stationed in Europe, his music career was put on hold and it is well documented in many books that he was unhappy with this. A turbulent time in his life, the recollections from people closest to him during this time makes for compulsive reading for fans. Whilst completing his service to his country, Presley's mother passed away and he met a girl that would later become his wife.

During the 70's his life was to take another turn, working in Las Vegas and doing many shows per week combined with failing health many of the most interesting written material comes from these days. Contributions from some of the biggest stars of the day as well as his own staff and friends make for very interesting reading. Of particular interest are The King's own personal views on the spiritual side of life and his faith.

Whether a fan of the man himself or just a casual reader interested in music or American history, many of these are books are well worth a read. From magazines to volumes running into thousands of pages, there have been literally millions of words printed about the king. These can be found in bookstores, online retailers and libraries all over the world.
