Custom tile is called artisan tile; they are not only water-proof, but they are a major way to enhance decor. Tiles are also used for an interesting effect on roofs, generally unglazed. Handmade tiles are customized in shops. After a client and the artist finalizes the design, the tile makers create each tile from solid clay and cut down to the specified shape and texture. After it has dried, they are applied with glaze. Handmade tiles are most often in neutral colors and its beauty are most often accentuated by the interior's lighting. Otherwise, the tile's color must be indicated at first because it might change as the it is baked depending on its material. It is then baked at nearly 2,000 degrees for 8 hours in a kiln.

Afterwards, if it needs an additional assembly, it will be laid out by the artisans and then packed. The client may opt to pick it up or have it delivered. Handmade tiles like these are most made of clay because this material is easier to work with. These tiles are more suited for walls than floors. In addition, because each tile is different, it requires a skilled tiler to be installed. Because of these processes, these tiles are more expensive.

It is evident that careful attention to the nature and placement of tiles is critical. You cannot adapt or make do. The final usage of the tile dictates the selection every time. Wonderful artisan work can grace a home or other environment and is an optimal choice for those who appreciate their fine beauty.
