A therapeutic sound project is conducted by a professional therapist who is trained in the field of providing music therapy to the people. It is the use of music to better the health of a person in different ways. Different people have different preferences when it comes to music. One genre of music can heal someone, and another can heal someone else. There is no fixed treatment.

The different aspects of music like physical, emotional, spiritual etc. Are used in the course of music therapy to heal the client. There are different ways in which music can heal a person, he can either listen to it, play it, move to it, or even sing it. It is all subjective to the nature of the client and the approach that the therapist takes. All these factors are kept into consideration and then a treatment course is planned for the client.

It is proven that listening to lively and pleasant music can uplift the mood of a person. It is of great help in the improving the social life too. Music is said to be one of the most effective conversation starters and the base to great friendships.

There are various uses of music therapy, it is highly instrumental in the treatment of mood disorders in adolescents. Music can help the adolescents in shaping their identity, staying calm and making the best out of the productive age that they are in.

Music therapy can also be combined with the regular treatment for patients who have had a stroke. People who have had a stroke tend to be a lot more anxious, nervous, helpless and aimless. Music can enhance their condition by helping them maintain emotional and mental stability. It is statistically shown that people who use music therapy along with their regular treatment have been in better moods and in a better state of mind where they are ready to accept their condition and are willing to make adjustments for it.

Given the mood uplifting properties of music, it is instrumental in the healing of major depressive disorder. Music has the ability to decrease the production of the stress hormone- Cortisol that leads to the improvement of one's depressive condition. Some studies have shown that people suffering from the disorder find it easier to interact and express while they are listening to music.

To develop the attention span of the children, some people introduce them to music therapy. When parents notice that their child has problems with communication, behaviour and other social skills they are taken to a music therapist. Children in the course of a music therapy are encouraged to play an instrument so that they can focus better and also develop an additional skill.

Music therapies as you know it, was started in the previous century after the world wars. People would find it peaceful to listen to music and dance to it. But its roots can be traced back to the time of Greek gods, it is believed that the first therapeutic sound project was used by Apollo, where he would cure people diagnosed with mental related disorders by singing a song to them.
