Many Americans can name at least one very popular Swedish female singer in this world. It is no surprise that the group ABBA turned out to be one of the biggest singing groups all over the world. The group included four artists who were romantically linked together in the early 70's. These four unique individuals were Agnetha Faltskog, Frida Lyngstad, Bjorn Kristian Ulvaeus and Benny Andersson.
History will always remember these four people as great artists who were able to inspire the world musically. The blonde bombshell of this group was Agnetha Faltskog and she is one lady who knows how to get everyone's attention. She is a native of Sweden and was raised in a very middle class family with no real connections to wealth. Her father was a store manager and her mother was a housewife.
Agnetha took many piano lessons and performed with her choir at church during every Sunday service. "The Cambers" was her very first musical group when she was only ten years old. Her group would always get a thrill out of performing for local events around her hometown and people really appreciated their talent. Unfortunately this amazing lady decided to leave school when she was only fifteen years old.
Singing was in her blood and she took every chance to learn the unique styles of other top performers. There were plenty of recordings by Lesley Gore, Aretha Franklin and the great Connie Francis in her room while she was growing up. She tried her best to style her music like each of these ladies.
The sixties proved to be a great year for Faltskog since she met Bjorn Ulvaeus during that time. They shared a true romance and even got married in 1971. Their passion ended in 1979 but they were able to have two children during this very special time. Their breakup did not have a negative effect within the ABBA group. "Knowing Me, Knowing You" was based upon their split.
The fabulous Frida Lyngstad was also known as "Frida" to many of her fans everywhere. She was born in Norway but grew up in Sweden and her parents were Norwegian and German. Her father was a very proud German soldier named Alfred Haase and her mother was a Norwegian woman named Synni Lyngstad. Unfortunately her mother died at the early age of twenty-one. Frida's grandmother helped to raise her after this happened.
She is very much like her grandmother since they both enjoyed good music and could sing any tune. The older woman was Frida's mentor and legal guardian after her mother's untimely death. Frida would always tell everyone how great her grandmother was when she did chat shows on television. She found success at thirteen with a local orchestra and finally met her ABBA lover Benny Andersson some years later.
Frida found herself to be one Swedish female singer who could finally take control of her life. After the end of ABBA she was able to continue her singing duties on a solo platform. People all around loved "I Know There's Something Going On" since the song had such a strong and powerful beat.
