Things To Consider In Buying Vintage Shoes

By Danielle Galloway

You have the love for classical things. You caught yourself wishing to be born in the earlier generation or somehow you wished that time travel is possible. But then you realized that this time is still premature for time traveling machines. Though you can not go back to the old times, you can somehow relive the old time as you don on that elegant vintage shoes you found at the thrift shop.

Shops selling antique items have darker lights. It was not really done by the full intention to trick buyers though. They want the shop to relive the old time that is why the ambiance seems so old too. But, it is hard to see damages when it is dark. To avoid buying damaged ones, you have to pick that piece up and go somewhere in the shop where the shaft of light is opulence.

When having your vintage spree, do not be shy in talking to the owner or the sales assistant. Sure you have gathered a lot of information about the era specific shoes. However, the person housing the shop knows more about their stocks inside and out. Create a relationship so in the future, they can give you a beep when older stocks are available for selling.

Look for the price tags and go for the best you can afford. The older, the more expensive the price is. This is because classics never run out of style even if the seems antique. So since they can be expensive, you have to look for something that fits your budget.

Do not heed on the sizing. Sizing is completely different nowadays and if there is a size label, the best thing to do is just ignore it. There are many possible reasons why the sizing today is different from the sizing yesterday. The reason, no one can really tell you except the makers themselves.

Without second thoughts, when something caught your eye, try it on. This is to ensure that it will fit. Shops allow fitting for the convenience of their customers. So no one would come knocking in the knocker asking for return because the items did not fit.

Also, do not forget to always check the bottom of the shoes. More often than not, a heel tip will be missing. Check out the leather around the buckle and strap for signs of wear and tear. Avoid the ones where the leather has stiffened because they will be uncomfortable to wear.

Do not be tempted with the style when it needs a lot of repair. Otherwise you will be spending much money that you could ever imagine in exchange of the whole repair job. You should rather find a cheap imitation of the style than buy the damaged one. Few alteration shops will do it justice.

So you realized that you can live in the past by wearing old things. Finding stores that sell these items is hard. But finding vintage shoes that will suit you is way harder. Most people give up even though the challenge has not yet started. Since you do not see yourself as a person who easily gives up, then you must follow the tips above.
