The Reasons For Use Of Mole Traps

By Carmella Watts

Mole traps are among the most identified structures in the agricultural sector. They usually come into play when the question of trapping pests arises. However, they cannot be used for trapping just any pest. They are used for a particular animal known as the mole.

There are very many reasons attached to the capturing of these creatures. Much as there are a number of them however, there is one major reason behind the activities of all the individuals involved. This is getting rid of the pests to allow the crops to thrive well. Some people after trapping them do not like losing the opportunity of creating themselves an extra employment opportunity. These are the individuals who would go an extra mile to hawk them out to interested parties, since there are people who usually feast on them.

The animal in question is not one very large one. Much as it is harmful to the plants, it is least harmful to the people trapping them. It can only trouble them by evading the traps. It is a small creature whose fur color ranges from grey to brown. Its destructive activities ate accomplished by four very small but strong teeth. The feet also are small but have got nails which are attributed to the digging of the tunnels.

The structures used in capturing these pests occur in highly diversified forms. There are those that can be designed locally. Yet still, there are those that can be bought from the shopping malls. The bought variety in most cases is common to those modernized farmers who cannot manage to make the local variety. However, most farmers prefer the local ones, because for one who has exposure, they are very simple to make, such that purchasing is a waste of money.

The traps used in curbing the activities of these animals are not very complex structures. In fact, many a time, they are made locally. They only involve assembling some sticks into a characteristic shape and putting then strategically on the path of that animal. However, some may be sold in the markets and shopping malls. These may be considered more effective, though the local ones used with expertise are equally effective.

There are both strengths and shortcomings associated with the trapping of these species. The merits are associated with the main reason of getting hold of them. The activity improves the amount of yields by curbing the destructive activities of these creatures. Besides, interested parties may also get their supply of meat.

These pests may be destructive, but they also have their importance. As such, trapping them may be considered a disadvantage in terms of soil development. They usually serve as very important air aerators by creating their channels. Their removal therefore interferes with soil structure development.

Mole traps are considered among the most important structures. This is because without them, people would suffer massive losses. People indulging in farming, have prioritized the learning of this pests and how to trap them.
