Updates On Common-Sense Plans For Line Dance Videos

By Randall Vallecillo

Talented dancers will want to show off their moves at a dance recital, and you will want to invite all of the students. Some studios put on a recital, which is a great thing for parents, as they like to see how their children are progressing over time. Recitals are way more fun for the kids and the parents if you have a theme to go with it.

It is good to have your kids raise money for their school dance, and it is easy to set up. One option is to have an ice cream social. Another idea would be to have them sell ice cream sandwiches door to door. Whatever you do, make sure the students have plenty of things to choose from.

A few weeks before the day of the school dance, get a group of students together to do a dance off. Senior males would be the best choice for this. Divide the group of boys into two dancing groups. Make sure they practice a funny dance for everyone. Have them doing a choreographed routine to a topical pop song from the radio. Have all of the groups perform at the assembly on the day of the school dance.

Create your recital around the broad theme of "fantasy and fairy tales," as many dance students will enjoy this young and old. Another great theme is Humpty Dumpty, and you could have the kids wear egg costumes. Jack and the Bean Stalk was one that we put on last year, and the kids loved dressing up as Jack. Mermaids are very popular with young girls.

Dance recitals are very interesting if you pick a theme everyone is interested in, and one of those themes is international culture from around the world. When you select the dance moves, make sure you pay attention to the local dance steps. At the dance recital that we featured the Mexican culture, we invited many Mexicans to come and teach us their dances. Introduce your students to the international music, and culture.

Consider holding a beauty pageant for your school dance. On the assembly day of the dance, put it on. Randomly select kids if you do not have a royal court. Have the female members of court emcee the event. A talent show would be appropriate, with some line dancing. Ask the members to prepare a real talent for the show if you have a talent show. Allow students to vote on the pageant winner.

Prepare engaging activities to get your students worked up about doing some line dances at school. Some schools have a large turnout for their dances. Encourage student participation at your dances. Our dances always run short of money, so I like to have the kids do things that bring in some cash.

Holidays are a great time to assign a theme to your dance class. If you look on YouTube, you will see our kids dancing in Christmas outfits. St. Patrick's Day dancers might perform to Celtic music, if you pick this theme. On Christmas, you could use some standard Christmas music, as it works very well for dance recitals. The holidays are easily spelled out on a calendar, and you should star planning your next recital right now.
