X Factor Favourite Jahmene Douglas Still Grieves For Brother

By Johnson Brierley

He's received plaudits and praise a plenty for his soulful voice and graceful style, but it has been revealed that Jahmene Douglas - many people's favourite to win this year's competition - is still in mourning for his older brother Daniel who died in tragic circumstance, aged just 23, nearly three years ago.

A source close to Jahmene informed Heat magazine of the difficulties that he had encountered during the competition without having his big brother there to guide and support him: "Right now all he wants to do is focus on his music and the competition, it's still very sensitive fro him. He doesn't have contact with his father and his family life is complex."

Eustace Douglas is the name of his father, who is currently in jail serving a 15 year sentence for the rape and GBH of his mother, Mandy Thomas. The attack occurred at the family home in Bath in 2003. Jahmene was just 11 years old at the time of the attack.

Jahmene's parents had been together for nearly eighteen years before the vicious attack. A family friend informed us that: "His dad was a nasty piece of work - he terrorised the family. It's really no surprise that he has confidence issues".

The bond between Jahmene and his sister, his two brothers and his mother is incredibly strong after all that the family have been through. "I hope I can become an inspiration to those still suffering. Our struggles are what make us stronger". He informed the Sun.

Jahmene (who is being mentored by ex-pussycat doll Nicole Scherzinger) is a devout Christian who has relied on his Christian faith to get him through the tough times. "Losing his brother was a huge reason why he turned to religion. His faith is incredibly important to him" Heat magazine was told.

Jahmene has certainly come a long way since he was crowned 'Swindon's Got Talent' winner back in 2010, an accolade which saw him lend his vocals to a charity song by Reach Inclsive Arts, designed to help involve more disabled people in creative and cultural activities.

Ever since Jahmene's first audition on the hit TV show, his performances have captured the hearts and minds of the viewing public and he is now one of the hot favourites to win the competition. But whatever happens, his courage and strength in overcoming the hurdles that he has faced in his life are nothing short of miraculous and must surely serve as an inspiration to others who have also gone through hardships, that when you put your mind to it, anything really is possible.
