The man is a musical legend of note. Each year he releases an album or goes on a musical tour. Eager fans await him in anticipation of Burning Spear music on every continent.

The reggae legend states that for him music is life and inspiration. For over thirty-five years his tunes inspires many in all continents of the world. From the very beginning the message in his rhythms spread the word to fight against oppression, improve personal life conditions and consider social impact of actions.

His style is within the Jamaican legacy spreading activism musically. The tracks are filled with rhythm that bubbles into grooves of dancing. It calls for nation unity, business and races together with business links and individuals. His second album was called Our Music. In 2003 his album Freeman earned a Grammy award nomination. The tracks are filled with positive messages about oppression, African history and love. Our Music is an album claim rights of his own art. He encourages artist to have their future at their command. Many artists neglect business aspects of their art. Many artists are exploited.

The album Our Music stands out with throbbing baselines. The tracks embrace a sense of persistence with simple lyrics pointing to intense deeper issues. Over twenty-five albums have been released, nine got Grammy nominations and Calling Rastafari received the honor of the best reggae album. He is a reggae pioneer working to influence people.

With roots in Jamaica and a Bob Marley fan, he was encourages by Bob Marley to explore a studio in Jamaica. Other leaders of influence included Jomo Kenyatta who moved from being a prisoner of British colonialists to president of Kenya. Another influence was Marcus Garvey who spread messages of self-reliance in black communities

One Burning spear album was titled Marcus Garvey and another Marcus Children. burning spear music always kept focus as a vehicle of positivity and movement into social change. The melodies have increased, with hooks that are catchy.
