Advice On Becoming A Ventriloquist Comedian

You will mostly likely come across an entertainer once in your life time. There are so many different kinds of performers doing shows for audiences of all ages. You may see comedians, magicians, or musicians doing their act for small or large audiences. If you are the comedic type, and want to do something unique and fun, you might want to think about being a ventriloquist comedian.

When you first start learning how to do ventriloquism, it's important to study people who are already successful ventriloquists. Notice how they time their jokes on stage, and how they assemble their routines. Try to learn from what works and what makes the audience laugh. By watching professionals work, you will be able to learn more quickly.

In order to be good you'll eventually have to purchase some instructional books or video tapes. When you read some instructional material, you'll be able to learn the correct techniques to learn the art of ventriloquism. You will learn how to make sounds with your mouth closed and how to talk to your puppet. Remember to practice often.

In order to be successful, you'll have to work on lip movement. Ventriloquists try not to move their lips because it will appear as if the puppet is speaking to the audience on its own. Try practicing in front of a mirror until you get it right.

Naturally you will also have to study how comedy works as well. You may want to consider taking an acting class at a local college to hone up on your skills. Watch famous comedians from the past do their act, and study their timing and how they structure their routines.

Becoming a ventriloquist comedian will take some effort and hard work. However, it will be really fun to practice and hone your skills. If you get good enough, it can even become your full time profession. Practice an hour each day and you'll eventually get better and better.
