With YouTube Broadcast Yourself to the Whole World

By Rebekah Grove

Who hasn't used YouTube? It is now obviously one of the most sought-after websites on the Internet because it gives the opportunity to everyone to become internationally recognized. With youtube broadcast yourself to the world by uploading a video of you singing, giving a lecture, or performing a special talent.

Google, Facebook, and YouTube are three of the most popular websites used today. However, there are three things that distinguish YouTube from the other two sites. One thing YouTube has that others don't is it is alone in its own category, squashing all competition from other websites with the same function.

Google competes with Yahoo! and Bing for usage, while Facebook competes against Twitter and LinkedIn. YouTube is in a class all by itself. It stands alone.

Two, YouTube can potentially make you famous and had, in fact, made regular people superstars. As everyone knows, or should by now, Justin Bieber is the most popular teen sensation in pop music today. He gained his notoriety by using YouTube.

Justin Bieber became well-known for his singing, guitar playing, and hairstyle by displaying all of his attributes on YouTube through the influence of his mom. He was eventually discovered by R&B star Usher, who also got him a major record deal. He was only the tender age of 15.

The song "Baby" by Bieber made a YouTube record with 500,000,000 views, the most views ever in the website's history. YouTube made the world susceptible to catching "Bieber Fever." Bieber would be just another undiscovered prodigy trying to make it in the business, working through rejection after rejection, had it not been for his mom sharing her son's talent with the rest of the world.

There are lesser stories of fame, but still fascinating true-to-life tales about how YouTube can launch someone's career at the speed of light. For example, Charice Pempengco, a young Filipino, would not have ever had the opportunity to see Hollywood. Actually, while still in the Philippines, she entered, and lost, many talent shows.

To condense her story, someone posted one of her videos on YouTube, which was viewed by Ellen DeGeneres and Oprah Winfrey, and today she performs sold-concerts around the globe. She has sung with Celine Dion, David Foster, Andrea Bocelli, Alicia Keys, and David Archuleta, among others. She was even in the TV show "Glee."

Third, YouTube is not like any other websites because you can see almost everything there is to see from the silliest homemade movies to Hollywood A-movies you've missed. Name it, you'll get it. YouTube is quite awesome all in itself for allowing users to watch whatever video they wish, but what makes it even cooler is the viewer can become a part of the video, as well.

There are countless people who are convinced that the greatest entertainment tool available was and is the TV. Television isn't nearly as popular as it once was to many people since the creation of YouTube. With YouTube, share your own videos such as talk shows, performances, various other routines, or home videos that would never make it to television.
