The best comedy films allow viewers the opportunity to lighten their mood by letting go and laughing out loud. Laughter has been said to cure bad moods. These movies also allow the viewers the chance to lose themselves in the film for an hour or so. Many people watch this genre of movie to escape from the stresses of everyday life. There are different sub-genres of comedy filmed in order to make people laugh. This article will discuss these sub-genres, as well as the stress relieving power comedies posses.

Many people have that special someone in their lives who is always trying to make people laugh. This individual may have more insight into dealing with life's stress than originally thought. It has been said that laughter is the best medicine. There is scientific proof behind this statement.

Doctors have been trying to prove the validity of the statement laughter is the best medicine. Many experiments have been held. One study that proved this theory studied hospital patients. The results were positive, as were the moods of the patients.

Before the movie viewing, the patients were questioned by psychologists and tested by nurses to determine their mental and physical well being. Over the span of a few days, the patient's were shown different genres of comedy films. They were all shown the same movies. Nothing else was altered in the patient's daily lives. A funny movie draws watchers into it because of it's realism. Realism refers to the writer's ability to portray events as they actually are. This is the aspect that allows people to lose themselves in a film. When a movies draws the viewer into the plot, a viewer no longer needs to worry about outside issues. Their only focus is the movie.

Viewers enjoy comedies that make them feel like what ever is happening in the film could actual happen to them. This is an important factor to writers. They tend to write for the audience and keep in mind what will make them laugh. It can be hard because there are different kinds of humor. This knowledge has led to different sub-genres.

The most common genres of comedic films are slapstick, satire, romantic, and dark. Slapstick movies date back to the silent movie era. They rely on harmless violence and exaggerated visual stimulation to promote laughter. Satirical films focus on poking fun at society and often use sarcasm and silly characters to make audiences laugh. Romantic comedies are self explanatory. They make light of the relationships between intimate couples. Black or dark comedies try to lighten up dark subjects and portray them in humorous ways.

The best comedy films are designed to help people feel better about life. Laughter has the ability to lighten the worst of situations. People are unique and have different senses of humor. This is why there are many different genres of comedy available. The goal of all comedy films is to promote laughter and happiness.
