Youtube Has Started Renting Out Movies In The United Kingdom

By Cindy Hannah

Most people hoping to watch movies online these days will head straight to YouTube. You could never get bored because there are just so many different videos to choose from; in fact there are millions. Although sometimes people will put pirated movies up on YouTube, they will be removed before too long. However the Google owned company has not failed to notice the fact that there is a huge demand for the latest movies.

This is why they have launched a new service that allows people in the UK to watch the latest movies legally. All the signs seem to suggest that this service is going to be a huge success.

The UK is the first country outside of North America to be given access to this new YouTube rental service. It was unveiled in the US last May, and Canadian internet users were given access to the service in September.

When it comes to renting these movies, you will find that there are thousands to choose from and all ranging in price from 2.49 to 3.49. The level of quality is about the same as a DVD. It is possible to download any movie purchased but they will only be viewable for 30 days.

A viable legal alternative to pirated movies will definitely cause a decrease in people's appetite for them in my humble opinion. Hopefully people will prefer a service like the one on offer from YouTube rather than looking for pirated copies of the latest movies. I'm a bit disappointed to see that we've needed to wait so long for this service to be available in the UK. I really think that this is a service that should be available to everyone all over the world and from the same time.

I will be interesting to see how this rental service performs over the next few months. There is definitely an audience for YouTube to take advantage of but whether they will or not is the big question.
